A 17-year-old girl who hails from Kabuoch, Ndhiwa Sub-County has requested any well-wisher to help her raise Sh. 75 000 needed for her treatment at Kijabe Hospital.
Irene Jael is a total orphan who was pursuing her education at Kanyangasi Primary in class 7 when she fell sick in 2017, diagnosed with a problem in her spinal cord.
Speaking to KNA, her grandmother who lives with her, Consolata Adoyo, explained that the disease started as mere vomiting and diarrhea that later escalated and she got admitted at Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital, but never walked again since then.
“It all started with a diarrhea and vomiting that became intense and I had to take her to the nearby hospital, but unfortunately upon her discharge, she has on no occasion, walked on her own again,” said Adoyo.
The grandmother added that the girl’s parents died while she was still very young and therefore, all the responsibility has always been on her, even though the poverty level is worsening.
Jael is now appealing for medical assistance from the public adding that she has tried reaching the local leaders to no avail.
