Those opposed to the BBI even before seeing the document should seek for experts’ advice over the document instead of blindly rejecting it.
A top Civil Servant Dr. Karanja Kibicho said it was wrong for the opponents of the document to just oppose it for the sake of it.
Kibicho who is the Interior Principal Secretary said experts were readily available to take through any willing person, step by step to understand the document.
He said the main cause of disunity in the country was the unfair sharing of available resources that the BBI seek to address.
Speaking at Kagio in his home area over the weekend, the PS said adopting BBI would benefit Mt Kenya region a lot.
“You realize the Kirinyaga County Woman Representative Wangui Ngirichi has only a single vote in Parliament even as she represents 670,000 people in her area while her counterpart in another county with only 130,000 population enjoys same benefits, which is unfair in as far as resource allocation was concerned,” he noted.
He also advised Kenyans to discard the ‘mtu wetu/our person’ syndrome which he added would be well taken care of by the BBI which advocates for inclusivity. “Let’s not hide our heads in the sand and admit that the having ‘mtu wetu ‘at the top syndrome should be discarded forthwith since Kenya belonged to us all, regardless of ethnicity or community,” Kibicho said.
The PS said once the BBI sails through, it will address resource allocation, representation and inclusivity due to the expanded executive.
On her part, Ngirichi told off those opposed to Kibicho for discharging his duties diligently. “Being my brother’s keeper, I am telling off those who are asking him to resign. I wonder why one can be crucified for discharging his or her duties with due diligence as Kibicho has done so far,” she said.
It came as a surprise to many since Ngirichi has been vocal advocating for the rejection of the BBI which Kibicho has been accused of hijacking it yet it was a political process.
