Friendly investment environment attract more companies to Eldoret town

The  county government of Uasin Gishu will continue to review its policies and legislation to make the County more
attractive to investors.

The  Uasin Gishu  Governor, Jackson Mandago said the county was keen on lowering the cost of doing business by looking into the policies and legislation that made it difficult to start and run businesses in the county.

Speaking on Monday during the opening of the Delight Solar office in Eldoret, the governor added that they have not increased taxes for the last three years as one way of reducing the cost of doing business and attracting more investors into the county.

The initiative by the county has already seen business and job opportunities boosted for the residents of the county, with six major private companies setting up their North Rift regional offices in Eldoret town within a period of two months.

Some of the companies, include mobile service provider Safaricom, French company – Altel Africa, Toyota Tsusho and the latest being innovative solar energy solutions company- Delight Solar that has just opened its North Rift and Western Kenya regional office in Eldoret.

The  Delight  solar global Chief Executive Officer, Ned  Tozun said that the new regional office and service center in Eldoret  was part of the company’s expansion strategy to reach and impact more than 100 million lives globally by 2020.

He  said  the use of solar energy in many rural areas is one of the efforts aimed at providing affordable energy to those who are not connected to electricity grids and helping residents to benefit from green energy.

Tozun  reaffirmed  the  company’s  commitment  to  impact  local communities  through  the  provision  of  alternative, environmentally  friendly  source  of  power.
