Wiper’s Donya Aburi, a former journalist with Royal Media Services, has been elected as the Woman Representative for Kisii County in her second attempt to capture the seat.
Aburi was declared the winner of the seat by the County Returning Officer, Michael Kosgei who released the results at the county tallying centre at the Kisii National Polytechnic grounds.

Teresa Oroo of UDA came third with 40,972 votes followed closely by Racheal Otundo (PPOK) and Everlyn Ogendo (Independent) who polled 31575 and 12,225 votes respectively.

In her acceptance speech, Aburi assured the residents of Kisii including women, girls, and people with disability (PWDs) that she will ensure they work together in addressing emerging issues that they are currently facing.
Ms. Aburi, popularly known as Donya Toto, left her journalism job in 2017 to vie for the woman representative race on a Jubilee ticket but lost to Ms. Ongera, a popular figure in local and national politics.
One year later, she was appointed as a board member of the South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited for a period of three years.
