Form Cooperatives, Wamatangi urges boda boda operators

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has contributed Ksh 1 million towards Githurai Kimwi Bodaboda Transport Cooperative Society’s kitty.

This was a gesture of support and encourage but also fulfil his promise to bolster the cooperatives Kitty.

Speaking during the cheque handover yesterday, the Governor spoke of his commitment to empowering local initiatives aimed at financial stability and community development.

He praised the cooperative members for their foresight in establishing a savings society dedicated to enhancing economic opportunities among bodaboda operators.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with their ambitious investment plans, which include acquiring land for members, establishing a spare parts shop, and initiating an affordable housing scheme. These initiatives underscored the cooperative’s dedication to long-term prosperity and sustainable growth.

Wamatangi went on to urge other bodaboda operators across the county to follow the cooperative’s example by organizing themselves into similar savings and investment groups.

Emphasizing the benefits of collective effort, he highlighted the potential for such initiatives to uplift livelihoods and foster economic resilience within the community.

In addition to supporting the cooperative, Governor Wamatangi also distributed bursary cheques to beneficiaries of the scholarship programme in Kiuu and Mwiki wards.

This initiative aims to alleviate financial burdens for deserving students and promote access to quality education in the region.

The event was attended by Deputy Governor Rosemary Kirika, area MCA Zack Macharia, and other MCAs led by Leader of Majority Godfrey Mucheke.
