Floods Claims Kipkellion Chief Sleuth

Kipkellion District Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) in Kericho County died Friday, after raging floods swept his vehicle following torrential rains currently pounding the area.

Confirming the incident, the County Police Commander Silas Gichunge said the incident occurred at 8.30 pm last-night at the gate of Mercy girls’ secondary school as the officer and a companion were leaving his office for his house located some three kilometres away.

The duo perished in the car as ragging floods swept their vehicle as they attempted to cross the flooded section of the road near the school.

Gichunge said that the DCIO was driving his car, a Mercedes Benz when the incident occurred, adding that his team and the County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO), Kericho fire brigade and the members of the public rushed to the scene and helped retrieved the bodies from the car.

The wreckage of the car was towed to the Kericho police station as further investigations commenced.
