The National Government in conjunction with the Garissa County Government has airlifted food stuff to Hulugho Sub- county which has been cut- off due to heavy down pour.
According to Hulugho Sub- county Administrator, Abdullahi Yarrow, the food and non-food items were this morning delivered to Bothai and later to Sangailu ,Galmagala and Hulugho area.
The Administrator said the airlifting of the foodstuff would continue for one week to ensure the supplies reaches all people affected by the ongoing rains in Hulugho Sub-county.
The foodstuff comprises of rice, maize meal, beans and wheat flour among other non- food items
The Sub- county had been cut off for the last three month following heavy down pour that has rendered all roads in Hulugho , Masalani and Ijara in Garissa impassable.
The IJara Member of Parliament (MP), Sophia Abdi Noor, the Garissa Deputy County Governor, Abdi Dagane and Women Rep. Garissa County, Mrs. Anab Subow, oversaw the distribution of the relief supply.
The leaders sent partionate appeal to well-wishers and development partners to assist with foods stuff, and non-food items including medical supplies nets, blankets and utensils.
The leaders appealed to Safaricom Mobile to resume their services despite the challenge they face. The network mast was destroyed by Alshabab in march this year
They lamented that people are forced to go to Sangailu , 45km away to get mpesa service and even remittance from their love ones in the diaspora
