Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has pledged to collaborate with donors to enhance the County’s transformation efforts.
Pointing out that it’s only through collaborative arrangements meaningful development to benefit the people would be achieved, Natembeya hailed World Bank for the unending role of supporting development projects in the region.
The governor met with the National Treasury and World Bank team to evaluate the progress of projects under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Program in the county.
He said his government is committed to ensuring that development is taken to the doorsteps of every resident which he said will only be achieved with the help of donor funding.
“We are committed to strengthen ties with our development partners in an effort to ensure key objectives of devolution are achieved. One major objective which is on course is taking development to the people by giving infrastructure a major facelift and ensuring climate change mitigation structures are operationalized. This is an area where World Bank deserves a special mention,” he said.
However, highlighting the challenges affecting implementation of the FFLoCA Projects, Trans Nzoia County Executive Committee Member in charge of Environment Boniface Wanyonyi present, picked out delayed cash transfer from the County Revenue Fund to the Special Purpose Account as a major stumbling block.
Meanwhile, Wanyonyi urged the World Bank to increase staffing in key areas in a bid to enhance efficiency.
Whereas, the leader of the World Bank delegation Muratha Kinuthia pledged continued support to ensure mitigation of challenges brought about by climate change.
Abraham Barsosio, representing the National Treasury, visited several projects including the Bidii Tree Project, Kaplamai Affordable Fuel Jikos, and Botwa Water Project.
