Residents of Bungoma who wish to travel by air will now be able to do so once the first flight by Freedom Air Express is launched during the first week of March this year.
Area governor Wycliffe Wangamati and a team from Freedom Airline confirmed on Sunday after an inspection tour of the field that Matulo Airstrip in Webuye West constituency was now ready for use .
Speaking at the Airstrip, the team led by Bashora Bashir, one of the airline directors, expressed their excitement at the vast opportunity the airstrip held.
The team had come to survey the airstrip, which they confirmed was in good condition and ready to for flights.
The airline will be operating on Fridays and Sundays, and plans to increase the number of flights depending on the passengers.
Bungoma residents have in the past had to travel by road to Kisumu or Eldoret to catch a flight to Nairobi, and have welcome the move.
