The burden of seeking judiciary services for Koibatek and Mogotio residents has been lessened after the high court began sittings at the Eldama Ravine town.
The court led by Kabarnet High Court Judge Lady Justice Rachael Ngetich held its first session at the Deputy County Commissioner’s boardroom and will continue every Thursday of the week.
A total of 23 cases in different stages were attended to, including one mitigation, one plea and four plea bargaining, eight mentions and nine hearings.
This will give relief to residents who initially had to travel to county headquarters in Kabarnet for their cases hearing. New cases can also be filed at the new sub registry that has been opened at the Eldama Ravine law courts.
This comes at a time when the new law courts building that had stalled for some time nears completion.
Eldama Ravine Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Koech confirmed to KNA that the activities of the building works were at the penultimate stage with floor tiling, glazing and paintwork being already done.
Eldama Ravine is the largest Sub- County by population among the seven in Baringo County and serves the neighbouring Mogotio Sub- County.
