Employees at Busia County Government office today woke up to a rude shock after fire burnt the County records office.
Addressing the press outside the office premises on Wednesday, Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi said the incident was reported by a section of County employees at around 2.00 am.
“The firefighting team moved in swiftly and began the process of extinguishing the fire,” he said adding that only one office containing files was badly affected.
He thanked the firefighting officers for moving swiftly noting that without their intervention, a lot of damage could have occurred.
Busia County Commissioner Jacob Narengo said the DCI team were at the scene to gather forensic evidence to establish the cause of the fire.
The affected office is said to be containing financial files alongside others.
