The Kirinyaga County Assembly has received the revised supplementary budget for the year 2019/2020 for consideration.
The revised budget was tabled at the assembly by a nominated MCA Lillian Wanjiku on behalf of the Leader of Majority Kamau Murango Tuesday.
But Tebere MCA Gudson Muchina later told the media within the assembly premises that he will be querying as to why the County Executive should bring a second supplementary budget yet a similar one had been brought and tabled 40 days ago.
“Once debate on this subject starts after we scrutinize its contents, I will be raising an issue as to why submit a second supplementary budget, “he said.
The said supplementary budget is for the year 2019/2020 financial year according to the Assembly Speaker Antony Gathumbi, who presided over the session.
Also tabled were the financial estimates for the 2020/2021 financial year which the MCAs will be debating on before passing or rejecting it.
Budget Committee Chairman Peter Njomo said he was concerned that the ECD teachers had not been paid despite a supplementary budget being tabled and passed 40 days ago.
He also wondered why medics had not been paid since February yet their services were needed more than ever before due to the fight against the corona pandemic.
“I wonder why the county executive does not address issues on priority basis especially payments of the medics salaries and that of the ECD teachers,”Njomo said.
A letter forwarding the 2020/2021 financial estimates from the executive was read by the Speaker and was dated April 30.The
The MCAs said they will hold a Kamukunji tomorrow morning before they embark on the debating commences on the budget.
