FIFA Secretary-General, Ms. Fatma Samoura jetted into the country for a two-day visit.

The Secretary-General is expected to grace the finals of the inaugural Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women Champions League CECAFA qualifiers Thursday, September 9th at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, Nairobi and to witness the crowning of the region’s first-ever representative to the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President, Nick Mwendwa said Ms. Samoura will also hold talks with the football leadership in the country.

“We welcome the FIFA Secretary-General to Kenya. We look forward to hosting her and engaging her about the development of the game in Kenya,” said Mwendwa.

FKF is delighted that this is a big week for the Women’s game and Kenyan clubs who are taking part in regional and continental competitions for the first time, an event they are pleased to share with the FIFA Secretary-General.

This is the first time the FIFA Secretary General is visiting Kenya, since her appointment to the position in 2016.

Ms. Samoura from Senegal, who is accompanied by FIFA’s Chief Women’s Football Officer, Sarai Bareman, is the first Woman and the first African to hold the position of FIFA Secretary General.
