Farmers exposed to technological agriculture for sustainable farming

Vihiga County government has come up with a youth in agribusiness strategy through which funds would be availed to boost agribusiness activities

Deputy Governor (DG) Wilberforce Kitiezo said this during an exhibition held at Mbale Muinicipal grounds in Vihiga Sub County attended by various players in the agricultural sector.

The event, organized by the Agricultural Sector Development Support Programme 2 (ASDSP2) through the county department of agriculture, aimed at showcasing appropriate technologies for enhancing agricultural production.

Kitiezo asked the residents to adopt the technologies for the realization of food security in the county.

According to statistics by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), every year, close to 828 million people suffer from malnutrition of which 146 million are children below the age of five.

The exhibitors included the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Organization (KALRO) Kakamega, Kaimosi Friends University (KFU), Bukura Agricultural College (BAC), Equity bank, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) and Tupande (One Acre Fund).
