A seven-months- old boy from Karuri village, Kigumo Sub County, Murang’a County is living with a rare condition that has adversely affected his health.
The rare condition which doctors termed as hiatus hernia has seen the boy’s stomach bulging into the back through the diaphragm and is treatable through surgery.
Emmanuel Ngige has lived with the condition since birth as the family has moved from one hospital to another to have the condition repaired.
His father Martin Ndung’u said his only child has been sleeping in discomfort and cries all night as he develops pain when he lies on his back. It becomes worse after being fed.
His father, said efforts to seek for his son’s treatment has financially drained him lamenting that he was sacked from job due to absenteeism as he was forced to spend most of the time looking after the ailing son.
The condition, he says had reduced his son’s immunity making him become sick often.
The young family’s only hope is that his first born will one day lead a normal life.
“We first sought treatment in Maragua hospital before being referred to Muranga County hospital where they did an X-ray on him. They also referred us to Kijabe mission hospital where they are asking for Sh500, 000 to repair the condition. I cannot afford such an amount,” he said.
He appealed to the government and well-wishers to come to his aid to help save his son’s life. Well-wishers can contact Mr. Ndungu though phone No. 0704 091 437
