The family of the late Wells Fargo human resource manager, Willys Ayieko has hailed the government for its efforts to bring to book his killers.
Speaking during a candle light vigil in memory of Ayieko, his elder brother, Aggrey Onyango said they were pleased with the efforts of the Government agencies so far. The vigil, held at the Governor’s Park in Siaya town was organised by the Siaya Political Forum where Ayieko was a member.
“The Government is good,” he said and appreciated the efforts of Siaya Governor, James Orengo and Alego – Usonga member of parliament, Samuel Atandi who, he added, literary camped at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters to demand justice for his late brother.
Onyango, the former chairman of the defunct Siaya County Council however said the family was still demanding to know the man behind the brutal murder of his younger brother.
“I am still asking who is this mighty man who wanted Willys dead,” posed Onyango.
Siaya County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Sylvestre K’okoth described the late Ayieko as a gentleman who detested altercations.
“He would never engage in any altercation that would raise tension or make people feel angry or upset” said K’okoth adding that when things threatened to get out of hand, Ayieko would use diplomatic language to bring peace.
The CECM for Education, Dr. Edgar Otumba who was with the deceased at Kenyatta university abhorred the manner in which his attackers tortured and killed him.
“Whoever wanted Willys dead should not have done it the way they did it. Why do you have to torture and maim somebody’s body that way?” he posed.
The late Willys Ayieko was reported missing on October 18, 2024 after attending a funeral vigil in Gem.
His body was discovered on October 28, 2024 at Mungoware stream that forms the boundary of Siaya and Kakamega counties.
Two suspects have since been arrested and presented before a Siaya court that ordered their detention at Kisumu Railways police station to enable the police complete investigations.
Another two suspects have died following fire exchange with detectives investigating the matter.
