A family in Rarieda sub-county is demanding justice for their 16-year-old grand-daughter who was allegedly defiled and impregnated by her father in Gem sub-county.
Mzee Julius Yoga and his wife Rose Atieno claim their granddaughter who has been forced to drop out of school at class six, was allegedly impregnated by her own father at Wambusa village in South Gem ward.
Yoga told KNA they discovered the condition of their granddaughter when the child’s mother sent her to their home after she was tested at Akala health centre in Gem sub-county and found to be pregnant.
He said that before she was sent by her mother to Asembo in Rarieda sub-county, the granddaughter revealed that she was impregnated by her father who had been defiling her.
The minor who said that her condition was discovered by her teachers when they summoned the mother to school before she was taken for the medical check-up, revealed that she was indeed impregnated by her father.
She disclosed that the father who is a bodaboda operator at Akala trading centre started defiling her when she was in standard two and has been committing the heinous act to date leading to her conception.
The grandparents feel that justice may not prevail for their grandchild, arguing that they had discovered that police at Akala police station where the matter was reported seem to be dilly dallying in making the arrest of the suspect.
They have therefore appealed for justice to prevail for the teenager whose future is now bleak after she was forced to drop out of school.
The suspect, Nashon Ouma is still at large and according to the officer in charge of Akala police station, Jared Nyaosi, a search for the culprit is underway to arrest and prosecute him.
