Family appeals for financial aid for the treatment of their kin

A family from Mauko area in Matayos Sub County is appealing for financial help of Sh3.5 million for the treatment of their daughter abroad after she was diagnosed with a heart condition.

According to Kennedy Ochieng, his five-month-old daughter, Tecyline Akinyi, was found to have two holes in her heart, a condition that they were advised to seek treatment abroad.

“In December, we suspected that our child had a problem with her chest. We took her to Busia Referral Hospital, where they tried to treat her. We were referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. It is there where they discovered that she has two holes in her heart after undergoing echocardiography.”

Ochieng said the doctor’s advice was that the family seek treatment abroad at a cost of 3.5 million, an amount he says the family cannot afford.

“We have nothing we can sell as a family to raise that kind of money. My work is house painting and glass fitting but I would like to save the life of my daughter.”

He appealed to Kenyans to help him raise money for her daughter to go to India for the heart surgery.

“My appeal to Kenyans and our President is to help me so that we can save the life of my daughter. I cannot raise this cash by any other means but only through contributions and donations from well-wishers,“he pleaded.

Eunice Auma, Tecyline’s mother, said the medicine her daughter was prescribed to use was expensive and they could no longer cope with the costs.

“The doctor recommended some medicine that the child can use as we prepare for her surgery but it is very expensive.

“We have used everything that we had to buy those medicines. We have a problem in our house; we cannot sleep. I am calling on all Kenyans of goodwill, including our leaders, to help us so that we can save the life of our daughter,” she said.
