Faki retains Mombasa senatorial seat

ODM’s Mohammed Faki has been declared a winner in the Mombasa Senatorial race.

This is Faki’s second time to clinch the seat garnered a total of 110,040 votes followed next by his closest competitor Hamisi Mwaguya of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) who polled 76,069 votes.

The race attracted at least14 candidates.

Speaking to the press Faki said that he is familiar with the job and promised to deliver better for the second term.

“It’s my promise to the people of Mombasa that we will serve them better as I appreciate the support they gave me,” said Faki.

On the position of Woman representative, Zamzam Mohammed of ODM won the Mombasa woman representative seat.

She garnered a total 116,008 votes followed by Fatuma Barayan of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) with 83,141 votes. She battled for the seat against six other candidates.

The ODM candidates have praised efforts by their party leaders for helping them in attaining the victory.
