Public service departments with desks at Meru Huduma Center have been urged to provide adequate staff to fast-track the new shift working system.
Speaking Tuesday during the official launch of the new system at the facility, County Commissioner Wilfred Nyagwanga said services at the center will be provided from as early as 6.30am to 7.30pm from Monday to Friday.
Nyagwanga said the government came up with the idea of extending working hours at all the Huduma centers across the country, so as to enhance public service along with supporting the full implementation of the flag shift project.
He commended performance at the center saying the open space set up was in line with the desired era of transparency, where nobody can engage in any form of malpractice.
The county commissioner said customers seeking county and national government services were no longer being subjected to the unnecessary bureaucracy hitherto experienced in offices since the Huduma center was a one stop shop.
Nyagwanga urged those working within the usual 8.00am to 5.00pm hours to take advantage of the extended hours to seek services at the center.
He reiterated the need for all players to embrace teamwork and ensure services at the center are carried out by competent personnel.
The administrator advised the Centre Manager, Mary Lairumbi not to allow any officer to take leave or days off before their departments provide a replacement to avoid having empty desks at the facility.
Nyagwanga further assured customers seeking services and staff working at the center of enhanced security during the working hours, adding that the number of armed security personnel had already been increased to enable the center to start operating under the shift working system immediately.
