Former Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director, Dr. Daniel Manduku has clinched the Nyaribari Masaba parliamentary seat in Kisii County.
Manduku who vied on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket garnered 16,303 votes beating his closest competitor, Bernard Ondari (Progressive Party of Kenya) who polled 5366 votes.
The results were declared by the Constituency’s Returning Officer, Hilda Imbo at the constituency tallying centre in Moi Gesusu High School.
Dr. Laban Chweya who vied as an independent candidate came third with 4,853 votes, followed closely by Narc Kenya candidate Elijah Mosomi polled 4,482 and KANU candidate Hillary Nyaanga who garnered 4,478 votes.
David Moibi who also vied as an independent candidate came sixth with 117 votes in the Tuesday election.
Manduku replaces the immediate former MP, Ezekiel Machogu who vied for the Kisii gubernatorial seat under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
Nyaribari Masaba is one of the nine constituencies located in Kisii County with a total of 68,593 registered voters spread across five wards including Masimba, Kiamokama, Gesusu, Ichuni and Nyamasibi.
