Enumerator mauled by dog in Homa-Bay

A census enumerator in Homa-Bay County is undergoing treatment in hospital after he was attacked and bitten by a dog in West Kamagak location of Rachuonyo South Sub County Saturday night.
The enumerator was bitten in the thigh by a dog belonging to their neighbour while in the course of carrying out the census exercise.
Confirming the incident to KNA, Rachuonyo South Sub County Deputy County Commissioner Mohamud Ibrahim said the official was attacked by the dog at around 10pm while on his way home to take dinner before proceeding with the exercise.
Ibrahim said that upon approaching their neighbour’s home, he was attacked by the dog which inflicted serious injuries in his thigh.
The administrator added that the enumerator was rushed to Kisii Level Five Hospital for treatment after sustaining serious injuries.
He further said that medical personnel at the facility were forced to refer the enumerator to a Kisumu hospital for specialized vaccination after they failed to get anti rabies vaccines at Kisii Hospital adding that he is in a stable condition.
The DCC said that the victim could not proceed with the census exercise and his position has been taken by another person who would work in the area hitherto assigned to the hospitalized enumerator.
Meanwhile, the enumeration of fishermen was done successfully at Nyapuodi, Kaimba, Kogwang, Banana, Homaline beaches in Kanam A location in West Karachuonyo location of Rachuonyo North Sub County in the morning.
Nyapuodi Beach management unit chairman George Orimba said that the remaining fishermen would be covered Sunday evening.
On his part the County Statistics Officer Peter Ochiel has assured the residents that everyone would be counted in the next two days.
His sentiments came as a result of complaints raised by residents that most of them had not yet been counted.
