Mukurwe-ini MP Anthony Kiai has appealed to area residents to ensure they are counted during the forthcoming national population census to prevent the constituency from being scrapped.
Kiai said that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission plans to merge some constituencies that do not meet 180,000 population threshold hence the need for all constituents who work or reside outside Mukurwe-ini Sub-county to be in their rural homes during the August 24th/25th night census.
The MP was addressing mourners in Mbari-ya-Ngura village, Gikondi location in Mukurwe-ini sub-county Saturday during the burial of Mrs. Jane Nyambura Wachira.
At the same time, he said the long awaited tarmacking of Gakindu-Kiharo-Kabuta road will start at the end of this year. “I want to assure you that by December, the contractor will already be on site,” said Kiai.
The MP also assured the residents of Nyagichii village, Gikondi location where electricity was disconnected following the electrocution of two cousins over two months ago that they will be reconnected this week.
