Embu-US Doctors partner for free medical camp

US-based iHOPE International doctors have arrived in Embu for a five-day free medical camp at Embu Level 5 Hospital in partnership with the County Government.

The medical camp is expected to run from Monday, February 19 to 24, where the team is expected to offer a wide range of treatments, including surgeries, for patients, especially those suffering from chronic diseases.

The team comprises approximately 50 specialist doctors and nurses.

Speaking while receiving the medics at the County Headquarters, the County Executive for Health, Jamal Runyenje, said the initiative was aimed at alleviating the suffering of patients with chronic illnesses who are unable to meet the cost of surgery owing to financial handicap.

The county administration is therefore implementing this initiative to assist individuals who are unable to afford urgent medical services due to financial constraints.

Runyenje stated that they are implementing this to assist individuals who are unable to afford urgent medical services due to financial constraints.

He expressed optimism that many patients suffering from different chronic illnesses will benefit and be able to live a normal life henceforth.

Meanwhile, major surgeries are scheduled for Monday, conducted by local doctors and US surgeons, for a week.

According to iHOPE International CEO Amy Pajnik, this is a way of giving back to society.

They are aiming to attend to as many patients as possible during the period, and residents have been urged to turn up in large numbers.

The organisation’s Medical Director, Norma Rae, called on Embu residents to take advantage of the camp, which will involve both diagnostic and treatment services.
