Embu family in distress following mysterious disappearance of their kin

A family from Majimbo Estate in Embu Town is in agony following the mysterious disappearance of their kin two weeks ago.

Retired Chief Inspector of Police, Stanley Njiru Kabaci vanished without a trace on Friday, September 2 at around midday after boarding an Embu Town bound matatu according to his family.

Before his retirement early this year, Njiru, 60, was serving at Mugoya Police Station in Embu West Sub-County.

His wife, Sarah Wangui speaking amid sobs said her husband had woken up well and in good spirits and reported to the construction site where he is putting up a family house until around 11am when he went to purchase plumbing materials to repair a broken septic tank.

“Before leaving to buy the plumbing materials, Njiru dropped by the house, changed his clothes and left while leaving behind his phone charging,” his wife said.

Grandson Evans Njiru in his account said he saw him from a distance in the school compound flagging down a matatu and boarding.

Ms Wangui said Njiru who is light in complexion and about five feet tall was wearing a jungle green jacket, checked shirt and grey trousers at the time of his disappearance.

“That was the last time I saw him up to now and we have searched everywhere for him including hospitals and mortuaries around,” the wife said.

She described her husband of 35 years with whom they have borne four children as a soft-spoken and amiable man who all his life lived peaceably with everyone including his family members.

She said their plans of holding a housewarming party in the house that is almost complete have been thrown into disarray following his mysterious disappearance.

His last-born son Stephen Miring’u said that life has changed abruptly since the day their father went missing and appealed to any person who will see him to report to the nearest police.
