Police officers in Rachuonyo North Sub County have launched investigations into the death of an elderly man who committed suicide.
The body of Anthony Okudi Okundi, aged 55, was found dangling from the roof of his bedroom in Kobuya location of Homa bay County.
Confirming the incident to KNA, Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum said that the body of the deceased had no physical injuries.
Tum further added that he also did not leave behind any suicide note to ascertain why he decided to commit the act.
At the same time, the officer further called on the residents to look for ways of solving their socio-economic problems rather than resorting to deaths.
He regretted that the number of people committing suicide in the region is alarming and called on religious leaders to intensify guidance and counseling during their pastoral work.
The body of the deceased was removed to Kendu Adventist Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
