Education Cabinet Secretary (CS), Ezekiel Machogu, addresses County Directors of Education today (13/2/2023), at his Jogoo House Boardroom. He stressed that school fees in secondary schools is capped at Sh53,000 for National Schools and Sh45,000 for the other categories and warned head teachers against charging extra levies.
The CS pointed out that the government will pay all levies for Junior Secondary Schools, and parents should not be asked to pay any charges.
The CS stressed that County Directors of Education, need to comb their regions to identify genuine cases of children not able to pay school fees, for the government to take it up.
“No child should fail to report to school because of school fees. It is your responsibility to ensure that such pupils are in school in line with the 100 percent Transition Policy, as the government sorts out the school fees problem,” Machogu directed.
