East Yimbo residents want the contract for the construction of Sh. 1.2 million drainage system at Nyamonye market in Bondo Sub County terminated.
Led by the area MCA Mr. Francis Otiato, the residents decried poor workmanship, lamenting that the work was being done very shoddily.
Otiato who spoke to KNA has therefore impressed upon the county’s Department of Works to come down to the ground and assess the situation to ensure the contract is terminated and the tender awarded to a competent contractor who will be able to do the work to the required standards.
He regretted that most of those incompetent contractors have been doing sub-standard work in almost every part of the county and go unquestioned because they have godfathers in the county government.
Mr. Otiato lamented that the efforts by the project management committees to question the manner in which the project was being done has borne no fruit because the contractor has been feeling that the residents can take him nowhere because he has a godfather.
The Member of the County Assembly has therefore warned that they will not allow the county government to get his payment should he be allowed to continue with the work in such a shoddy manner.
He warned that they will not sign the project completion certificate if the county government fails to intervene to ensure the work is done to the required standards.
