The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers raided the Thika Sub-County government offices on Thursday and confiscated a safe, files and computers believed to contain crucial information in their ongoing inquest into the county government’s corruption allegations.
The detectives arrested two secretaries in the office of the Finance Chief Officer in the Sub County in the six hour raid after ransacking several offices, especially the accounts department.
They arrived in seven vehicles accompanied by fully armed police officers who combed the premises until the operation ended at around 5.pm.
Their presence sent shock waves to the county staff who work in the premise, with many forced to flee their offices out of fear.
Speaking after the operation, the County government lawyer Michael Osundwa said that they had cooperated well with the officers.
He said those arrested were innocent and would only help in investigations.
This followed the early morning arrest of Kiambu Governor, Ferdinand Waititu by EACC detectives over corruption allegations.
