Police in Homa-Bay County have arrested the driver of a Kasipul NGCDF vehicle regarding a fracas in an Oyugi hotel which left one of the aides of the local MP, Ong’ondo Were dead.
The Homa-Bay County DCI Officer, Daniel Wachira confirmed that the driver took the MP to the hotel but immediately disappeared after the fracas, adding that they are still interrogating the driver to enable them get more facts concerning the incident.
The police in Oyugis said that Lamon Adienge, 35 who is still undergoing treatment in Rachuonyo Level four hospital will be charged in court for assaulting Kenneth Jabuya a tutor at Omiro Technical Training Institute in Rachuonyo South Sub- County.
Adienge and his counterpart, Jerry Odhiambo had attacked Kenneth Jabuya at a hotel in Oyugis town stubbing him severally on the stomach. However, a mob assaulted Odhiambo and then succumbed to death on arrival at Rachuonyo South Sub- County hospital while Adienge was saved by the police and taken to hospital.
When contacted by the police on Monday, the MP condemned the action of attacking and killing Odhiambo calling for action to be taken against the perpetrators of the violence.
Wachira appealed to the public that they are reviewing CCTV footages which were recorded during the fight.
It is alleged that the MP was within the hotel ten minutes before the incident.
The DCI assured the public that those who participated in the attack will be held accountable and the MP will have to record a statement with the police on what he knew about the incident.
