Close to 8,090 farmers in Mwala sub-county have so far registered in the ongoing countrywide registration of farmers for subsided fertilisers, Mwala Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Fredrick Kimani has said.
Kimani said the exercise targets 45,000 farmers in the sub-county. He appealed to farmers who are yet to register to liaise with assistant chiefs and village elders to have their details captured by January 15.
The ACC asked residents to turn out in large numbers for the initiative noting that the deadline for registration will not be extended.
“Farmers have until January 15 to register while the launch for the issuance of the subsided fertilisers for the long rains will be done on January 17,” noted Kimani.
The government on January 7 launched the nationwide registration of farmers to ease the distribution of the subsided fertilisers ahead of the April -May long rains.
