There was drama at a burial ceremony in Kisii county when a section of mourners tried to block Dagoret North legislator Simba Arati from accessing the podium.
Arati was accosted by a group of youths on arrival at the funeral of the county women representative Janet Ong’era’s brother at Igoma village Nyamache Sub County.
Commotion ensued as the youths ring- fenced the podium where prominent county leaders sat in apprehension.
Their efforts were however thwarted allowing the MP to break through the cordon and start shaking hands with the leaders.
Arati assured the mourners that he was not up to any mischief and that he had only come to send off his clansman.
He accused area police officers of brutalizing motor cycle transport operators commonly referred to as’ boda boda’.
The law maker cited three incidents where confrontation between the police and the operators had seen the later shot at and hospitalised.
He called for the transfer of the officers from the area.
Nyamira county Senator, Okong’o Omogeni raised the red flag over leased medical equipment in the area claiming some of them malfunctioned because they were second hand.
Omogeni commended President Uhuru Kenyatta’s sweeping broom on corruption and said it should be invoked on those involved in the medical equipment lease scam also
