DP Kindiki inspects projects in Murang’a ahead of next week’s presidential tour

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has inspected ongoing infrastructural development projects in Murang’a ahead of next week’s Presidential Development Tour.

The Deputy President who was speaking at Gakoe in Mathioya constituency stated that President William Ruto will make an extensive tour of the Mt. Kenya Region to commission, inspect and launch development projects noting that his tour will not be a political exercise but a conscious effort to fulfil his pre-election promises on developing the region.

The DP inspected Gikoe Economic Stimulus Program (ESP) Market which is at 80 percent completion level and will accommodate hundreds of small-scale business people and storage facilities to curb wastage and enable farmers to fetch better returns for their farm produce.

The Sh54 million market is earmarked to accommodate 204 traders, a social hall and ICT hub among other amenities.

Kindiki called for unity in the region ahead of the president’s visit saying the president is committed to ensuring that all government projects that are ongoing are completed so that they can serve the public as intended.

He affirmed that the ongoing development projects will be completed in time for the economic transformation of Murang’a County and all other parts of the Country.

“The President has sent me together with these other leaders to ensure that government projects are continuing and will be completed promptly for the benefit of the public,” the DP said.

He stated that national unity is a catalyst for economic and social transformation of the Country and noted that people from Mt. Kenya Region are entrepreneurs and can be found in all parts of the Country.

“We must not allow selfish and parochial interests to isolate Mt. Kenya Region from other regions of the country,” he said.

The Deputy President was accompanied by MPs Dr. Edwin Mugo (Mathioya), Peter Kihungi (Kangema), Betty Maina (Woman Representative, Murang’a County), Sabina Chege (Nominated MP) and Veronica Maina (Nominated Senator) when he inspected ongoing works at Gikoe Market and supporting facilities.
