As celebrations to usher in the New Year intensify, Nanyuki GK prisons officers have been encouraged to double their efforts aimed at serving the inmates better next year.
Senior Superintendent of prisons in charge of Nanyuki GK prison Martin Okoko speaking on Tuesday at the heavily guarded facility during the end of year prayers noted that the year had challenges but it had come to an end.
He asked the officers to focus as the New Year begins, further saying they should practice things that make them better, including proper financial management, which he revealed was a challenge among many people.
At the same time, the Nanyuki GK prison boss warned against drunkenness and absenteeism among the prison officers which would derail their work on rehabilitating the prisoners.
Superintendent of prisons in charge of Nanyuki women prisons Mary Mutabari appealed to the officers to have a positive mind aimed at moving forward which would boost their working morale and attract promotions at their work places.
She further reiterated the need for the uniformed officers to have plans of their lives and what they aimed at achieving the much anticipated year.
