Residents of Gikondi division, Mukurwe-ini Sub County are still mourning the death of Mr. Simon Giitwa Kigano a local leader who died under unclear circumstances, three days ago.
According to family sources, Giitwa who was the Chairman of Muthuthi-ini Coffee Factory and Secretary to Ruthaka coffee society reportedly fell as he left an entertainment joint at Muthuthi-ini shopping centre on Wednesday night and suffered severe injuries on the head.
The sources who requested anonymity added that Giitwa was rushed to Mukurwe-ini sub-county hospital but referred to a reputable Nyeri county hospital owing to the condition he was in.
He died while being rushed there in an ambulance.
Giitwa is described by those who knew him well as a man of the people who spared no energy in serving the public.
“He had a heart of gold. He was polite, generous, kind, humorous and always ready to help. So sad he is no more,” said Peter Wamui a senior member of Nguura clan that Giitwa headed.
According to the family, Giitwa who is survived by wife and children will be laid to rest at his home in Mbari ya Nguura village, Muthuthi-ini sub location on Friday, April 12.
