Police in Kenyenya, Kisii County are holding a woman and her daughter after her husband was found murdered at the gate to their home on Thursday morning.
Keziah Nyansiagoka and her daughter were arrested after Charles Konga Otwabe, aged 60 years, a father of five was found dead with deep injuries on his chest at around 6 am at Kebaracho Village in Kenyenya Sub County.
It is said the body was found by neighbours who were passing by who alerted the family members.
Area Chief, Kamau Nyaboga said the public who were suspicious of the incident conducted a search in Konga’s house where they found blood stains in his bedroom and outside his house.
The Chief said that police were forced to use teargas to disperse irate members of the public who wanted to lynch Nyansiagoka and her daughter and also burn down their home.
Nyaboga said that the suspect and her daughter were taken to Kenyenya Police Station where they are being held as police carry out investigations before they are taken to court.
Gabriel Onderi, one of the neighbours who rushed to the scene told the press that they were surprised that the woman and her daughter were least concerned despite the victim being found dead a few metres from their home.
Onderi said that they demanded the woman opens her house after which they conducted a search and found evidence implicating her in the murder of her husband since it was alleged they spent the night together in that house.
Daniel Otwabe, a brother to the deceased said his sibling was involved in frequent domestic disputes with his wife that were often solved by family members but nobody expected that this would one day lead to death.
Area OCPD, Philip Oyugi confirmed that the body was moved to Lenmek Hospital Mortuary in Ogembo Town awaiting postmortem.
