The Director of Information Joseph Kipkoech has reorganized the Directorate of Information sections naming the section heads and assigning them responsibilities to achieve the directorate’s desired goals.
In a briefing at the directorate’s headquarters at Uchumi house, Nairobi Friday, Mr Kipkoech called on the appointees to embrace public service values and principles notably work ethics, transparency, accountability and good governance.
“After extensive consultation and deliberations, the directorate makes the following changes to effectively deliver on its mandate, vision, mission, and core values,” the director said, while announcing the changes.
The directorate, he announced comprises eight sections namely: Planning, Budgeting and ICT, Kenya News Agency Press Office, Finance, Administration and Partnerships, Field Services, HR and National Publications and Performance Contracting, Management and Regional Publications.
Other sections are: Press Centre, Photographic and Video Services, Central Media Services (CMS) and Knowledge Management and Supply Chain Management Services.
The planning, Budgeting, and ICT Sections will be headed by Ms Ester Wanjau deputized by Mr Francis Hwaga. Their duties will include budget preparation and resource mobilization, digitization, and media management systems.
The Kenya News Agency Press Office section will be headed by Ahosi K’Obonyo deputized by Mrs Mary Musasia and Mr Kizito Maruti. Their duties will include overseeing operations of the National Press office and editorial services, KNA reports, KNA website, Social Media, Technical services, and ICT Infrastructure management.
The Finance Administration and Partnerships section will be headed by Mr. Hillary Obwocha and deputized by Mrs. Jane Gicharu. Their duties will include accreditations, training, interns and attachees deployment, accounts, records, transport, and security.
Mr Patrick Odongo will head the field services, HR, and National publications deputized by Hilda Amboko. Their duties will include supervision of field offices, HR/staff welfare, Mawasiliano Bulletin, County Focus magazines, and Inside Kenya Today.
Performance contracting management and regional publication will be led by Mr Bernard Ngugi Deputized by Esther Mbuthia and Mr Charles Munyaka. Their duties will include performance negotiation, performance monitoring, and reporting, publication of rural publications, and supervision of field editors.
Benedict Wasiche will head the Press Centre, Photographic and Video Services deputized by William Inganga. Their duties include Coordination of news, Information, Photographic and video services as well as archiving of photographs and video clips.
Central Media Services (CMS) and knowledge management section will be headed by Esther Ngatia deputized by Sarah Njeru. Their duties will include media research, library and information resource centers, and management of information reports.
Supply chain Management Services will be headed by Patrick Mwangi deputized by Peter Kamau and Kimberly Owili. Their duties will include asset inventory management, procurement plan development, and implementation.
The director advised the sectional heads to focus on their core responsibilities, embrace teamwork and visionary approach and cultivate a positive mindset in order to succeed.
