The  Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Edward Njoroge Mbugua  has directed the police at the coastal region to be vigilant and ensure a adequate security is provided for smooth running of all activities throughout Christmas and New Year festivals.

He said as usual, December holidays have a lot of activities with visitors, both locals and foreigners streaming into the coastal towns to celebrate hence the need to guarantee their security.

Speaking  on Wednesday at the Kilifi Administration Police quarters, Mbugua asked security personnel to be dressing on full uniforms where applicable throughout the festivities for easy identification.

He said despite the many challenges faced on the roads, the traffic police have a duty to ensure only roadworthy vehicles, law abiding and qualified drivers are allowed to operate on the roads.

The DIG said his tour in the Counties of Kilifi and Mombasa is meant to encourage officers in the region to ensure security is maintained for the success of the festive season.
