Defiler re-arrested by detectives

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers from Homa Bay County have re- arrested a 40 year old businessman, who allegedly defiled and impregnated a 13 year girl in Homa Bay Town in July 2019.

The suspect, Wycliffe Ondari, was arrested by CID officers in Kericho town, where he has been hiding since being released on a cash bail of Sh10, 000 when he was arrested on July 28, 2019 for allegedly defiling and impregnating a minor at Sophia estate.

Confirming the incident, Homa Bay County DCI boss Daniel Wachira said that Ondari was intercepted by the officers while carrying on with his normal business within Kericho town.

Wachira said, “We were tipped off by a member of the public that the suspect moved to Kericho where he has been conducting business activity. CID officers tracked him down and arrested him last evening.”

He said that the suspect was moved from Kericho to the County and he is being detained at Homa Bay Police station, awaiting to be arraigned in court on Monday.

The re-arrest of Ondari has come barely 2 days after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Hajji who toured the county ordered the local police commander and County DCI boss to immediately re-arrest the suspect and present him before court of law over defilement.
