Police in Murang’a South Sub County are looking for a man who allegedly defiled his six-year-old daughter in Kiyo village, Kamwiru sub-location three weeks ago.
According to area Chief Rufus Mwangi, the man committed the offense then went into hiding after learning that he was being sought.
The man, in his mid-30s, is a jail bird and an alcoholic according to locals and is said to have separated from his wife following which he remarried.
The nursery school pupil, the chief said, had been living with her step mum when the father subjected her to the ordeal.
“After learning of the offence, we took the girl to hospital on October 23, and hospital reports indicate that she had been defiled,” he said.
The girl later disclosed to her teachers that her father had continually been defiling her.
“We are working closely with the police to arrest and have him charged. Anyone with information about his hideout should report to the authorities,” he said.
Resident have called on the police and national government administrators in the area to move with speed and arrest the alleged defiler saying they were taking long to do so.
