Grief has engulfed Tekoa village in Lumakanda location, Lugari Sub-county after a decomposing body of a middle aged man believed to have been murdered was discovered in his employer’s compound.
Mwamba Sub-location Assistant Chief, Edwin Nashirobe, said the body had several visible injuries, indicating he was tortured to death.
The local Administration assured residents of thorough investigations into the incident to ensure culprits are brought to book.
Ms Wilfrida Omulayi, a resident, said Mathias Wafula, the deceased, had been employed by her daughter as a farmhand and he was staying alone in the compound.
She said the deceased was visiting her at her home in Majengo area every two days, adding that since Tuesday last week he had not been seen.
“I have been trying to reach him through phone since Thursday but the phone has remained unreachable and so I decided to come physically to establish what had happened to him,” she said.
She said when she reached the main gate she found it locked with a padlock from inside and after trying to knock on it unsuccessfully she decided to go round the compound to backside which she found open but there was a foul smell in the compound.
The door to the house where the victim lived was wide open and when she peeped inside she was shocked to discover his decomposing body lying on the floor before she alerted neighbors and security officers.
“The assailants stole chicken and a bed which the deceased was using leaving the blanket and mattress,” she explained.
The body was taken by the police from Lumakanda Station to Kimbilio Mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County.
