CS urges governors to embrace dialogue in their cash negotiations’ tiff

Devolution CS, Eugene Wamalwa has appealed to the council of governors to embrace dialogue in ensuring that counties receive Sh335 billion.

Wamalwa was speaking after commissioning construction of Sh170 million banana Processing factory in Kisii Town.

Terming the standoff of the revenue allocation bill as unprecedented, Wamalwa urged the feuding parties to solve the issue unequivocally.

“Devolution should be strengthened for the government to meet the big four agenda,” said Wamalwa.

He noted that President Kenyatta wholeheartedly supports devolution and as part of his legacy he would want the devolved units to be stronger.

Kisii County Governor, James Ongwae expressed displeasure concerning the limbo in the revenue allocation.

“The national budget is about Sh3.3 trillion, the counties only want Sh330 billion which is just 10 percent of the national budget,” said Ongwae.

Kisii County Assembly Speaker, David Kombo asked legislators from the region to ensure they lobby for increase in amounts to the level that is recommended by the commission of revenue allocation.
