The Health Cabinet Secretary (CS), Sicily Kariuki has challenged Tharaka Nithi County government to immunize thousands of children against various diseases by embracing Rapid Results Initiative (RRI).
Ms. Kariuki who was speaking at Kajuki Health Centre in Igambang’ombe sub-county on Thursday further directed the county government to take the Family Doctor from Cuba to the grassroots to utilize his skills on outreaches as they apply them in his home country.
“We have nine thousand children in Tharaka Nithi who are not immunized and the county government should accelerate the activity by starting a Rapid Results Initiative but the same has to be supervised,” said the CS.
Speaking at the same event, Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor, Nyamu Kagwima said the county government would renovate and upgrade Kajuki Health Centre into a modern facility for better delivery of services to the people.
“We will put in the budget funds for developing this health facility to modern standards,” said the deputy governor.
On his part, area Member of Parliament, Patrick Munene called on the people from the county to take their children for immunization without being coerced since the government’s initiative was for their own good.
