Five people succumbed to Covid 19 related ailments as the country registered 431 fresh infections over the last 24 hours.
The latest infection was detected from a sample size of 4,627 people tested out of which 17 were foreigners ,272 whom were male and 159 are female. The youngest was a seven-year-old child while the oldest patient was 100.
This now brings the cumulative number of those found with the highly contagious virus to 113,236 out of a total sample 1,369,326 since the pandemic was reported in the country.
In the latest statistics according to the Ministry of health, the number of fatalities goes up to 1,913 while 79 patients recovered from the disease majority of of whom were isolated at Home Based and Isolation Care while 29 are from various health facilities. Total recoveries now stand at 88,405.
In press release from the Health Cabinet Secretary’s office, at least 668 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 2,080 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 114 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 24 of whom were on ventilatory support machine and 76 on supplemental oxygen. 14 patients are on observation.
Another 27 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 24 of them in the general wards and 3 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Nairobi recorded the bulk of new infection at 252cases followed by Nandi county at 83, Machakos 47, Busia 12, Kiambu 11, Kajiado 10, and Uasin Gishu with 7 cases.
