Kenya has recorded 388 people who have tested positive of Covid-19 from a sample size of 4,287 tested in the last 24 hours.
This now brings to 41, 546 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country while cumulative tests are now 591,198.
From today’s cases, 383 are Kenyans and 5 are foreigners, 284 are males and 104 females. While the youngest is a four-year old infant and the oldest is 85.
In a press release today by the Ministry of Health on the COVID 19 situation in the Country, the distribution of the cases has seen Nakuru recording 86 cases, followed by Nairobi 84, Mombasa 51, Trans Nzoia 49, Kiambu 29, Kisumu 17, Kericho 11, Meru 10, Busia 10, Bungoma 8, Machakos 7, Garissa 5, Kajiado 3, Tharaka Nithi 3, Nyamira 3, Nyeri 2, Siaya 2, Makueni 2, Nandi 2, Kwale 2, and Nyandarua 2.
In terms of Sub County Distribution; the 86 cases in Nakuru, are from Nakuru East (24), Gilgil (22), Naivasha (20), Nakuru West (7), Rongai (4), Kuresoi North (3), Kuresoi South and Subukia (2) cases each, Molo and Nakuru North (1) case each.
In Nairobi, the 84 cases are from Lang’ata (13), Embakasi Central, Kamukunji and Makadara (8) cases each, Kasarani, Kibra and Westlands (6) cases each, Dagoretti South and Embakasi West (5) cases each, Dagoretti North and Embakasi East (4) cases each, Embakasi South (3), Embakasi North, Roysambu and Ruaraka (2) cases each, Mathare and Starehe (1) case each.
In Mombasa, the 51 cases are from Kisauni (20), Jomvu (16), Mvita (10), Changamwe (3), Likoni and Nyali (1). case each. In Trans Nzoia, all the 49 cases are from Saboti. In Kiambu, the 29 cases are from Thika (18), Lari (4), Gatundu North, Kiambaa and Ruiru (2) cases each, Githunguri (1). In Kisumu, the 17 cases are from Kisumu Central (13) and Kisumu East (4).
In Kericho, the 11 cases are from Ainamoi (8) and Belgut (3). In Meru, the 10 cases are all from Imenti North, while in Busia, the 10 cases are all from Matayos.
In Bungoma, the 8 cases are from Kanduyi (3), Kimilili and Tongaren (2) cases each and Bumula (1) case. In Machakos, the 7 cases are from Athi River and Machakos Town (3) cases each and Matungulu (1).
In Garissa, the 5 cases are from Garissa Town (4) and Ijara (1) and in Kajiado, the 3 cases are from Kajiado Central, Kajiado East and Kajiado North with (1) case each. I
In Tharaka Nithi, the 3 cases are from Igambang’ombe (2) and Chuka (1) while in Nyamira, the 3 cases are all from Nyamira North.
The 2 cases in Nyeri, are all from Nyeri Central, the 2 cases in Siaya, are all from Rarieda, the 2 cases in Makueni, are all from Kibwezi West, the 2 cases in Nandi, are all from Chesumei, the 2 cases in Kwale are all from Msambweni and the 2 cases in Nyandarua, are all from Kinangop.
Today, 61 people have also recovered from the disease, 40 discharged from various hospitals and 23 from the Home-Based Care Programme. This now brings the total recoveries to 31,000.
Sadly, 6 patients have also succumbed to the disease bringing the fatality to 766.
