A Nyandarua County government employee was on Saturday morning found murdered and her body dumped along Ol Kalou – Nyahururu road near the Nyandarua Institute of Science Technology.
The body of Mary Mundothi who was a Community Development Assistant officer (CDA) attached to Ndaragwa Sub County was discovered by a resident who alerted authorities.
According to Nyandarua County Police Commander, Dr Gideon Ngumi it is suspected that the deceased was raped before being murdered.
“It was reported by area assistant chief that the body of an unknown female adult had been found lying by the roadside near the Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology. Police rushed to the scene and found the body which had severe head injuries and deep cut in the left cheek with no inner wears, “said Dr Ngumi.
The police boss noted that it was reported that the deceased was travelling back home from Nairobi before she was attacked.
He added that police officers had launched a probe to ensure the offenders were brought to book.
Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia has condemned the incident and call for speedy investigation and the arrest of the culprits.
“I am pleased to note that security agencies have since taken up the matter into which we now expect speedy and conclusive investigations,” said the county boss.
He also condemned violence against women noting that the death of the deceased was a stark invitation for everyone to continue challenging violence against women and girls across the county and the country at large.
The body was moved to the Nyahururu County referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
