County urged to provide farm inputs to enhance crop production

Tana River Member of County Assembly Paul Maro has called on the local government to provide seeds, water and fertilizer to the farmers in order to increase crop production and address food deficit in the area.

Speaking at Hola, Maro said about 130,000 residents were currently facing starvation, hence the County Government should provide farm inputs to local farmers, aimed alleviating hunger in the County.

The Mikinduni ward MCA also urged the county government expedite completion of the Hola social hall to enable local youths to nurture their talents and earn some income.

He said this would reduce cases of idleness, loitering and theft among the youth, adding that yearly Talents Shows should be organized to tap into the young energy.

At the same time, Maro said River Tana has many crocodiles, therefore the County Government should put up a crocodile centre for tourist’s attraction, which would generate revenue for the county government.
