Nyeri County Government plans to enter into a working partnership with the Outspan Hospital as a way of improving the lives of the local community.
Under the agreement, the parties hope to among others cooperate in improving social amenities such as playing fields as one of opening avenues where youths can nurture their God-given talents through sports.
Yesterday Nyeri CECM Gender, Youth, Sports, and Social Services, Esther Ndung’u met with a team from the Outspan Hotel led by the Executive Director Dr Godfrey Kiruhi where a proposal to have a working agreement was mooted.
Ms Ndung’u has told KNA that once the two parties sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the contents of the agreement will become abiding even for future administrations.
“Yesterday we only had an initial meeting where the possibility of developing a working partnership was discussed with the delegation from the Outspan hospital. Therefore, as we speak we don’t have a signed Memorandum of Understanding with the hospital. But with such an arrangement, the validity of what we discussed must first be validated before it can be implemented” she has pointed out.
One of the primary agenda of yesterday’s meeting was to explore potential collaboration in the improvement of the Kinunga Stadium in Tetu Sub County.
The official has nevertheless said this is not the first time the private Level 5 health facility which also runs a Medical College is partnering with the county in community centered programs.
She said the health facility has in the past worked with the Department of Health in addressing health challenges affecting the residents of the county.
Ms Ndung’u also said the hospital has been instrumental in undertaking renovation works at the Kinunga stadium as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the public.
“Outspan hospital has been working closely with the County Government through various programmes with the sole object of providing quality services to the public. The proposed MOU is intended to ensure the longevity and stability of the collaboration, safeguarding it against potential changes in government,” she added.
If implemented, the MOU will also integrate the Nyeri Youth Development Policy to address critical areas such as drug abuse, sports development and mental health challenges.
The proposed MOU is intended to ensure the longevity and stability of the collaboration, safeguarding it against potential changes in subsequent administrations.
This initiative aligns with the department’s mandate to develop programs that engage the youth, promote sports, tackle challenges such as drug addiction, and introduce modern solutions to improve the quality of life.
The CEC assured the Department’s commitments in supporting collaborations that contribute positively to community development and encourage further initiatives that will advance the welfare of the people of Nyeri.
