County Suspends Medical Services at Malela Health Centre

The Homa Bay county government has suspended medical services at Malela Health Centre in Ndhiwa Sub County to create room for quarantined Covid-19 suspect cases.
Residents living around the facility have been directed to seek healthcare services elsewhere as the centre is the only isolation facilitate for Covid 19 suspect cases in the county.
The directive comes a few days after 26 year old driver who allegedly ferried `fake mourners` from Nairobi to Kadede village of Seka in Karachuonyo constituency reportedly tested positive to coronavirus and was subsequently placed under quarantine at the facility.
Speaking to KNA, the County Executive committee member in charge of Health Prof. Richard Muga said that they had suspended all medical services at the health facility and transferred services and staff to the neighbouring health facilities where residents can be attended to.
Prof. Muga told the area residents to seek medical services at Ogongo Health centre, Langi dispensary and Koduogo dispensary saying they have put in place measures to ensure locals get quality health care services at the facilities.
Muga added that Malela health isolation centre is now out of bounds and only approved healthcare workers are allowed to access the facility to monitor the progress of the patient.
