Isiolo County government in collaboration with US Department of Defense has renovated and commissioned a laboratory at Isiolo County Referral hospital as it strives to improve on healthcare services.
The hospital’s laboratory was provided with new equipment that will help in diagnosing diseases with ease and also fitted with pin coded doors to boost security to ensure only authorized staff access the facility.
Additionally, the laboratory will provide a platform to train medical staff and students to serve the local community in case of disease outbreaks.
The county Chief Officer for health Ibrahim Aliow assured residents that the referral hospital will soon be elevated to level 5 to enable it improve on health care services.
He added that County government will partner with the National government to ensure the laboratory was properly maintained and operates to the maximum and requested the County government to renovate the facility’s casualty area as well.
Area governor Dr. Mohamed Kuti said that 11 more laboratory technologists have been employed to curb staff shortage at the facility.
He said the hospital will enhance service delivery by ensuring prompt requisition of drugs at Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) and proper prescription of the same by clinicians.
